Hola chicas while I’m traveling across the pond I have a series of guest post arranged…today is the awesome Nic Gordon of http://mymannersandmoxie.com/.
I hope you’re well! Today I am very honored to be guest hosting for Val while she is off frolicking in London and Barcelona. I’ve been to London and it’s one of my favorite places but Barcelona is still on my To Visit list. Either way Val choose some great places for her vacation getaway and I’m sure she’s having a great time! In the meantime I hope to whisk you away with me for a little chat about one of my favorite things. What’s that you may ask? I’m talking about food haha. Brunch is my favorite “mealtime” because there is so much variety. Omelets? Check. Pancakes? You betcha ya. Mimosas? Keep them coming. Well, as much as I love brunch there are occasions when you don’t have enough time or maybe don’t want to have a “proper” sit down experience. In these moments a coffee shop or bakery are great substitute.
Just recently Mr. T (my boyfriend’s moniker ) and I had a full Saturday planned. We needed to make a dent in our To Do list but ended up sleeping in later than planned. So instead of taking the time to go have brunch we decided to head around the corner to a Russian bakery we’d been wanting to try. I don’t know about you but Russian food is not normally tops on my list of ethnic favorites. However, this place looks adorable and quite popular so off we went.
In the interest of time I threw on this look so we could get to noshing. You can pretty much wear anything to brunch although I wouldn’t recommend P.J’s. Granted some places are dresser but if you’re hitting up the corner shop things are pretty casual, especially here in San Francisco where causal is the mode du jour. For those who may not be familiar with San Francisco weather, it’s kinda terrible. It boggles the mind but Summer is the coldest time of the year here and Fall is the warmest. So while normal people everywhere else are melting we’re wearing our puffer coats and mittens. This day was warm, relatively speaking but still on the chilly side.
I may be wearing a sleeveless top in these pictures but I did wear a jacket that morning. Trying to keep things quick and simple I wore these jeggings paired with this colorful top to add some brightness. It has a boho feel to it so that’s what I focused on when choosing my accessories.
I love these shell earrings and I added rings and bracelets in gold tones to keep the feeling warm. I layered a few necklaces in different lengths but made sure to have one long one adding some weight to this billowy top. I chose dark sandals because I wanted the focus on the top but went with a brown bag to tying it all together along with these somewhat retro glasses.
What do you like to wear to brunch or your local coffee shop for breakfast? Do you like this look or would you change something in particular? We ended up really liking the Cinderella Bakery and the soy latte I had was quite good. In San Francisco we can get rather snobby when it comes to coffee being that we’re rather spoiled in that area. I just had a croissant and Mr. T had a mocha and apple pastry but got a beef & gorgonzola pierogi for later. He must have enjoyed it because later that night it was nowhere to be found. I think we’ll definitely be back for round 2 and maybe settle in for something more substantial in food and attire. I may start planning my look for next time. What do you think about glass slippers?
